Sunwoo Kim is an adjunct researcher at the Research Institute of Human Ecology, Seoul National University, where she studies the “Social Psychology of Fashion” across diverse cultural, social, aesthetic, and consumption contexts. Working at the intersection of consumer behavior, social psychology, cross-cultural studies, qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, and human-computer interaction, Dr. Kim examines a board range of interdisciplinary questions in the fashion and beauty industries that shape individuals’ life values.
Her past and ongoing research spans:
Inclusivity and sustainability in the fashion and beauty industries, examining size-inclusive advertising, developing an educational program to foster positive body image among adolescents, understanding the needs of consumers with disabilities and older consumers, and assessing consumer responses to vegan materials.
Human-computer interaction in the fashion and beauty industries, focusing on the development of AI-driven clothing-care appliances with LG Electronics and on retail technology in both online and in-store settings. More recently, she has studied virtual influencers and virtual try-on services across diverse environments.
Aesthetic perceptions in the fashion and beauty industries, addressing beauty ideals, advertising endorsers, product designs, cosmetic surgery, and cultural differences in beauty standards.
