Sunwoo Kim is a research assistant professor at the Research Institute of Human Ecology, Seoul National University, where she conducts research on the “Social Psychology of Fashion” within diverse cultural, social, aesthetic, and consumption contexts. Positioned at the intersection of fashion studies, consumer behavior, social psychology, cross-cultural studies, qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, and human-computer interaction, Dr. Kim investigates a wide range of multidisciplinary issues within the fashion industry that directly influence the life values of individuals.
Her previous and ongoing research topics encompass:
Inclusivity and sustainability in the fashion industry, by scrutinizing size-inclusive advertising, developing an educational program to foster positive body image in adolescents, comprehending the needs of disabled and elderly consumers, and assessing consumer responses to vegan materials.
Human-computer interaction in the fashion industry, particularly concentrating on the development of smart washing machines with LG Electronics and retail technology in both online and in-store settings. Recently, she has been conducting studies regarding virtual influencers and virtual try-on services in diverse fashion environments.
Aesthetic perceptions in the fashion industry regarding beauty ideals, advertising models, product designs, cosmetic surgery, and cultural differences in beauty standards.
