Participation in the 2025 ITAA annual conference, St. Louis, MO, USA.
Dr. Kim attended the 2025 annual conference of the international textile apparel association (ITAA) in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. She presented the results of her recent collaborative studies and served as a presider for the session "Sustainability/ Social Responsibility." Her research team received the "Best Paper Award" for a study on smart apparel for elderly consumers.
In addition, she attended a special lecture by fashion deigner, "Wes Gordon" at Washington University in St. Louis and joined an industry tour that introduced regional fashion companies, including a small fashion start-up, a rock-climbing footwear company, and an apparel recycling company. She also met with international colleagues to discuss and plan future research collaborations.

Special Talk at Pusan National University, Busan, South Korea
Dr. Kim delivered an invited lecture for graduate students in the Department of Clothing and Textiles at Pusan National University (Busan, South Korea). The lecture addressed various issues in hypothesis development, with a particular focuse on statistical inference, and helped students grasp fundamental concepts in quantitative research methods.

Special Meeting with Choonmo Jung, a Holder of Korean National Intangible Cultural Heritage
Dr. Kim and her colleagues met with Choonmo Jung, a holder of Korean national intangible cultural heritage. Mr. Jung has devoted his life to inheriting and developing the craft of "Tongyeong Gat." The Gat is a traditional Korean hat made of horsehair and is a symbol of men's social status during the Joseon dynasty.
Tongyeong Gat is a particularly important regional heritage, rooted in the city of Tongyeong, which is renowned as the historic naval base of the legendary Admiral Yi Sun Sin. Adminal Yi halped foster the gat-magking tradition as part of efforts to revitalize the local economy.
During the meeting, Mr. Jung explained the history and meaning of the Tongyeong Gat and shared his lifelong commitment to preserving gat-making craftsmanship. It was a memorable opportunity to appreciate his dedication and to reflect on how we can contribute to sustaining this precious cultural heritage.

Participation in 2025 GMC, Hong Kong
Dr. Kim attended the 2025 Global Marketing Conference (GMC) held in Hong Kong. During the conference, her research team presented one of their ongoing research, engaged in fruitful discussions, and expanded their academic network with international scholars. Beyond the sessions, she also enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere of Hong Kong’s summer, making the trip both professionally and personally enriching.

Visit to "Evseg" Cashmere Headquaters, Ulaanbaatar, Monglia
Dr. Kim visited the headquarters of Evseg Cashmere in Ulaanbaatar and met with the company’s vice-president. The visit included a comprehensive tour of the production facilities, where the entire manufacturing process takes place in a single line—from washing raw wool, spinning yarns, and weaving fabrics to dyeing, designing, sewing, and creating the final products. As a scholar in fashion and textiles, it was a remarkable opportunity to witness each stage of cashmere production firsthand, gaining valuable insights into the craftsmanship and integrated system of Mongolia’s renowned cashmere industry.

Special Talk at Paramita (Buddhist Community for South Korean Teenagers), Gosan Temple, Daejeon, South Korea
Dr. Kim delivered a special talk at at Paramita, a Buddhist community that serves South Korean adolescent boys and girls. The subject of the special talk was "Discovering my radiant and precious self." It was an unforgettable experience to engage with middle and high school students, their parents, and educators who are dedicated to the cultivation of a positive body image. Dr. Kim presented a special talk in the Dept. of Fashion Design at Pukyong National University in Busan, South Korea. The topic covered her recent research project regarding the development of an education program for fostering South Korean adolescents' positive body image. It was a valuable experience to introduce her recent research interest to the college students, who are learning education program development.

Poster Presentation at ITAA Annual Conference, Long Beach, CA, US
Dr. Kim presented her study, titled "Representation of Plus-Size Models in Academic Research: A Text Mining Analysis of Size-Inclusivity," at the ITAA (International Textile and Apparel Association) annual conference. With two co-authors, she explored academic discourse surrounding the representation of plus-size fashion models by utilizing text mining methodologies, revealing its implications for inclusivity and body positivity in both the fashion industry and academia.

Dr. Kim's article was introduced at "Sebasi Talk"
In this Sebasi Talk, Professor Wonjae Lee from KAIST introduced Dr. Kim's article, "Effects of Korean female adolescent makeup on school adjustment." It is delightful that this article has a chance to substantiate Professor Lee's declaration that the socio-psychological effects of adolescent makeup culture are beneficial for their healthy development.
